Job Summary:
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all logistics operations, including the management of company-owned trucks, ensuring statutory compliance, maintenance, and efficient utilization. The role also involves tracking and planning vehicle movements, coordinating with third-party transporters, managing drivers, and collaborating with sales and purchase teams for dispatches and inbound logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
Truck Management:
  • Ensure all company-owned trucks are compliant with statutory regulations and maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Schedule and oversee regular maintenance and repairs of trucks.
  • Maintain detailed logs for each truck, including maintenance records and usage reports.
  • Monitor and ensure efficient daily utilization of all trucks.
Tracking and Planning:
  • Use tracking apps to monitor the real-time location and status of all trucks.
  • Plan and optimize truck routes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Plan and arrange for additional vehicles from third-party transporters when needed.
Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with third-party transporters to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party transporters and ensure compliance with service agreements.
  • Manage and schedule truck drivers, ensuring compliance with work hours and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to ensure timely dispatches to customers.
  • Coordinate with the purchase team to manage inbound logistics and ensure timely deliveries.
Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure all trucks have the necessary permits, insurance, and documentation.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all logistics activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Efficiency and Cost Management:
  • Monitor logistics costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics operations.
  • Develop and manage the logistics budget.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Generate regular reports on logistics performance, including truck utilization, maintenance schedules, and cost analysis.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of logistics operations, truck management, and statutory compliance.
  • Proficiency in using logistics tracking apps and software.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
